BAIF Development and Research Foundation envisions to empower NABARD’s supported wadi tribal farmers with digitization of information for ensuring traceability and enabling remote transactions. Towards achieving the objective, VAPCOL proposes to implement Source Trace’s Remote Transaction Solutions: DATAGREEN (DG) for digitization of various processes involved in wadi programme and its associated producer organization-Vasundhara Agri-Horti Producer Company Limited (VAPCOL)’s marketing[Modula id=”1″] operations.
SourceTrace provided DATAGREEN (DG) Agro Solutions to VAPCOL with the financial assistance from NABARD to implementing a pilot project at Dixal Cooperative ‘ENSURING TRACEABILITY AND EMPOWERING TRIBAL FARMERS THROUGH DIGITIZATION OF FARMERS INFORMATION AND ENABLING REMOTE TRANSACTIONS. Over 2100 farmer’s profiles were created and digitized using SourceTrace DATAGREEN (DG) solution during the month of February 2014. The Field staffs were provided with Smart mobile phones and a Blue tooth printer. The field staffs were trained by the SourceTrace on how to process the transactions and generate the receipts.
Remote transaction solutions serve as a strategic support tool for organizations, stake holders, input suppliers, management, marketing personnel and other key decision-makers, allowing them to make constructive interventions to facilitate progress to a tangible end use. Remote transaction solutions deployment receive enhanced support and offer significant economic and social benefits—among them: reducing product losses and operational costs, increase operational efficiencies, ensure traceability of inputs and products and empowerment of the tribal farmers.
Source Trace proposed five modules, where in each module the technology will be introduced to a group of users to prove the technology and processes and then gradually expand to larger user base. Based on the preliminary discussion with the management of VAPCOL to understand the operational requirements, the following modules are proposed for implementation; 1) Farmer Enrollment 2) Input Distribution 3) Procurement and Payment Processing 4) Inventory and Traceability 5) Internal Control System for Organic and Fair Trade Certification. Deployment of Source Trace solutions would enable identity of every tribal farmer and access to information in real time by the management ensures proactive planning and necessary interventions to enhance productivity, ensure traceability, manage risk and also provide a mechanism to monitor performance of farmers over diverse areas.
